ELFT (East London NHS Foundation Trust) is making a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.
Exciting opportunity to develop Occupational Therapy skills in assessing and supporting the needs of older adults with mental health conditions such as dementia, schizophrenia, anxiety and depression. The Model of Human Occupation assessment is used throughout the service along with the Pool Activity Level, life history work, person centred care and recovery model. It is also an opportunity to develop skills in assessing the physical, cognitive and social areas of functioning of older adults in the community.
You will also develop supervision skills as you will be expected to give clinical supervision to occupational therapy assistants.
Supervision, support and training will be offered throughout employment. The OT team meets every month and there are also other Trust wide clinical interest group meetings to support CPD activities.
The band 5 OT is based at The Robinson Centre, Mile End Hospital and will be working alongside members of the multidisciplinary team from the CMHT and Diagnostic Memory Clinic. The band 5 OT will also be collaborating with external agencies such as Community Health Teams, Tower Hamlets Social services and care homes within the borough. The CMHT operates Monday Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
