At East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) we are committed to supporting the development of Arts Therapies to increase the choice and access Service Users have to evidence-based psychological therapies. Over 50 Arts Therapists work across the trust in a wide range of services and each year we provide 25 Arts Therapies Trainees with clinical placements through a centralised programme. Our impressive range of on-going research partnerships includes the National Institute for Health Research.
This exciting new post will provide joint leadership in partnership with the existing Head of Arts Therapies supporting a skilled Arts Therapies team who work across a range of ward and community based adult mental health services in Newham.
Newham Secondary Care Psychological Services delivers a comprehensive NHS Psychotherapy Service for people presenting with severe and complex mental health problems. We provide a high quality clinical service, where flexible and complex interventions are available across a range of therapy models and modalities, which are accessed via health professionals in the community. The service delivery is informed by attention to the social, cultural, economic and political context of psychological problems to ensure that the service meets the needs of the Boroughs diverse population. The service offers a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches including cognitive-behavioural, integrative, systemic and psychodynamic psychotherapies, and a range of groups across the modalities. It acts as a specialist resource to primary and secondary care mental health services, and contributes significantly to community services. The service offers supervision and consultation to mental health professionals and runs a placement programme for trainee psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists.
This senior post holder will have excellent on-going support including regular managerial, clinical and professional supervision and membership of a dynamic peer group of Head Arts Therapists working in similar team lead positions across the trust. The post is open to Dance movement, Art, Drama and Music Therapists.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
