ELFT (East London NHS Foundation Trust) is making a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the Newham Personality Disorder Service for a 12 month period. This is a 1.0 WTE, Band 7 fixed-term position.
The Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) Team is a small and friendly team within the Newham Personality Disorder Service. This would be an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience in Secondary Care settings and is interested in furthering their clinical skills in working in Personality Disorders and MBT. The successful candidate would have skills and experience in facilitating groups and carrying out individual work with people with a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and wish to develop these areas of their practice further. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively with the Clinical Lead, Service Manager and other team members.
MBT in Newham is a team approach and we value providing an evidence based therapy in a safe environment. We would like to hear from people who are willing to work transparently and closely with other members of the team. Patients are discussed regularly and the team shares decisions about care planning, treatment and risk assessment and management. We would welcome applications from people who are reflective and can consider the therapeutic relationship and the impact the work has on them. The post would be both challenging and rewarding so it is important that candidates are keen to develop their skills and can also manage the impact of the work on them. Newham is one of the most deprived and diverse boroughs in London. Many of the patients we see come from diverse cultural backgrounds and we are looking for people who can work both effectively and sensitively with these patients in order to assist them in making meaningful changes.
Previous applicants need not apply.
