ELFT (East London NHS Foundation Trust) is making a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.

ELFT has been named one of the HSJ Top 10 best places to work in healthcare, HSJ Provider Trust of the Year and graded as Outstanding by our regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2016. We believe that staff who feel valued by the Trust and are truly engaged in the organisation deliver better outcomes for our patients.

We have set ourselves the mission of providing the highest quality mental health and community care in England, and have embarked on an ambitious Quality Improvement Programme to transform the culture of the Trust to one of continuous improvement, delivered through participation of all staff and with service users, carers and families at the heart of our efforts to improve.

Geographic areas our services cover

ELFT provides a wide range of community and inpatient services to children, young people, adults of working age, older adults and forensic services to the City of London, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Bedfordshire and Luton. We provide psychological therapy services to the London Borough of Richmond, as well as Children and Young People's Speech and Language Therapy in Barnet.

In addition, the Trust provides forensic services to the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest, and some specialist mental health services to North London, Hertfordshire and Essex.

The specialist Forensic Personality Disorder service serves North London and the specialist Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME adult outpatient service serves North London and the South of England.

The Trust's specialist Mother and Baby Psychiatric Unit receives referrals from London and the South East of England.

We have an exciting opportunity for a 1 WTE 8a Clinical Psychologist to work in our Community Mental Health Team for older adults in Bedford. The post-holder will provide specialist psychological input to Older Peoples Mental Health Services and Memory Assessment Services in Bedford. This includes provision of psychological and neuropsychological assessments, psychological formulations and delivery of highly specialist psychological interventions to service users in community, residential and inpatient settings.

The post holder will be interested in developing and delivering innovative approaches to the provision of psychology services in secondary care, and contribute to a positive holistic and person-centred culture within services. The post holder will also provide consultation to the multi-disciplinary community team and inpatient wards in Bedford and Luton and support in the development of care plans for service users. Supervision to Assistant and Trainee psychologists forms an important part of the post. Contribution to service development initiatives, audit and research are expected as a senior clinician in the team. With guidance from the Older Peoples Psychology Lead, the post holder will liaise closely with psychologists working in other Older Peoples teams in Luton and Bedfordshire to develop and maintain a high standard of professional practice across the service.

Our services in Luton and Bedfordshire have been undergoing significant transformation since East London Foundation Trust became the provider in April 2015. The Trust was rated as 'Outstanding' by the CQC in 2016, and boasts a nationally and internationally recognised Quality Improvement programme with which psychology works closely. We would particularly welcome people who have a strong interest in creative and innovative service improvement. As a large Trust across Bedfordshire, Luton and East London we also have teaching, training and research links with a number of universities (Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, UEL and UCL).
We have another vacancy for an 8a Clinical Psychology post in our Mid Bedfordshire CMHT for Older People (0.7WTE) and this is being advertised simultaneously.

We also invite applications from those nearing or newly-qualified who have relevant experience in working age CMHTs; if successful they would be appointed as Band 7 supporting progression toward Band 8a.
