ELFT (East London NHS Foundation Trust) is making a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.

The Newham Health Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities (LD) is looking for a registered Learning Disabilities or Mental Health Nurse to join our experienced community Nursing Team. Our clients are predominantly people with severe - profound LD, however we also support people with mild - moderate LD to access mainstream health services where required. We are active in supporting services across Newham to ensure people with LD receive excellent health care and to reduce health inequalities.

The Nursing Team works closely with our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) colleagues which include Psychiatry, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Art Therapy and Physiotherapy, to offer holistic assessment and interventions. Nursing is a key element of the teams clinical pathways - including those for dementia, epilepsy, complex physical health and challenging behaviour. The post also involves GP Link Working activities (including training) and the applicant must be able to work autonomously, prioritising and planning their own workload and be actively involved in decisions relating to clients with complex healthcare needs.

Working full time (37.5hrs per week) the successful candidate will be experienced in working in partnership with people with LD, their families and carers and supporting them to live successfully in the community. You will be committed to improving outcomes for our service users and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. If you have any questions, please contact our team on 0207 059 6600 and ask to speak to Clive Davis/Siobhan Moore (Lead Nurses).
