EMOTIONAL & BEHAVIOURAL TEAM AND NEURODEVELOPMENTAL TEAM
WHOLE TIME (10 SESSIONS)
6 MONTHS

A whole time (10 sessions) Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist is required to work with the Luton CAMHS to be split across  the Emotional & Behavioural Team and Neurodevelopmental Team  for 6 months, pending recruitment to a substantive post in the Spring. 

Our thriving and innovative multi-disciplinary teams are part of the Luton Specialist CAMH service.  We are part of ELFT (East London Foundation Trust), which includes five CAMHS services across East London, Bedfordshire and Luton.  In line with other ELFT CAMHS there are multidisciplinary teams based on care pathways including the Emotional and behavioural Team, Adolescent Mental Health team, Community Eating Disorders Team and Schools Liaison Team. Each team comprises a range of CAMHS disciplines including child psychotherapy, clinical psychology, family therapy and nursing, as well as child and adolescent psychiatry.


The aim of the service is to deliver a wide range of evidence based mental health assessments and treatments to children and young people between the ages of 0-18 with mental health disorders and/or Autism, intellectual disability and significant challenging behaviour. 


You will be working in a community based team delivering a service to children, young people and their families in a supportive and lively multidisciplinary team, where differences in training and theoretical standpoints are respected and valued.  
The post-holder will be expected to provide psychiatric assessment and treatment where clinically appropriate, monitoring use of medication and other treatments as appropriate, contribute a psychiatric perspective, provide senior clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, offer consultation to other professionals and agencies and facil

itate the development of the team and wider service. 
Luton is a fast growing hub and multi-ethnic community within a half hour train journey from central London, with the clinic a five minute walk from the station. The Trust has an arrangement for 50% discount on season ticket fares with Thameslink, the rail provider, for its staff.
