Luton and Bedford Nursing Posts

Luton and Bedford Mental Health Services serve a vibrant population with dedicated, dynamic and caring teams.

We have;

  • 3 Adult acute admission wards and a male PICU at Calnwood Court in Luton.
  • 2 Adult Acute admission wards in Oakley Court in Luton.
  • 1 adult Acute admission ward- Townsend Court in Houghton Regis. Service also extend to include provision for Older Adults Inpatient admission units. Poplars Unit in Houghton Regis sits next to Townsends Court and accommodates 16 functional admission beds
  • 1 older adults service in Bedford based Fountains Court

The Inpatient Services are accessible from London with a 30 minute train from Kings cross and is accessible by car just off the M1, parking is available on all sites.

The teams have achieved significant improvements in the quality of service and care that is delivered. Evidence of this can be seen in the implementation of the Trust’s QI work streams to include Violence Reduction and Time to Think strategies and the Joy at Work projects. There is an increased investment in supporting staff to undertake QI training to enable further opportunities to look at how we improve what we do. There are established leadership structures across the ward teams that ensure adequate and effective Governance and Assurance systems that foster learning from incidents and maintaining quality, safe and responsive services.

Over the last year there has been an enhanced focus on recruitment and retention with an improved overall retention rate and reduced vacancy factor across all wards. This brings the added advantage of improved consistency and continuity of care, improved outcomes and reported levels of satisfaction for staff, service users and carers. Given the high numbers of newly qualified starters there has been an additional investment in a program of development for Preceptees alongside opportunities on the ward.

As the service continue to develop and build on their accomplishments to date, I would like to make you aware of the exciting opportunities to join the nursing teams to support the provision of high quality care. In Luton and Bedford, we take pride in our commitment to the provision of person centered care and delivering a positive experience for both our patients and carers during admission. We are motivated to improve quality at all times and welcome innovative and creative ideas and ways of working to enhance patient, carer and staff experience. Knowledge and experience of working within Quality Improvement frameworks will be an asset.

We have vacancy’s across the different specialities. This is an exciting opportunity for either a newly qualified nurse who wishes to develop robust clinical and caring skills and established staff nurses who wish to join a new service and be part of a dynamic work place where you will be encouraged to creatively develop the services we deliver.

Secondment contracts are individually negotiated and will take into issues such as  travel and London weighting.

If you would like to discuss the vacancies and secondment options and discuss how working in Luton and Bedford could support your career development or to arrange a visit please contact Sasha Singh on 07828921364 or Daisy Mudoni on 07946199225
