ELFT (East London NHS Foundation Trust) is making a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.

Highly specialist child and adolescent mental health nurse prescriber and practitioner

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated specialist nurse prescriber to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Newham.   You will be joining a community based multi-disciplinary team located in Plaistow, London and working with children and young people from across the borough.  Newham uses a care pathway model of service delivery.  The team consists of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, specialist mental health nurses, psychotherapists, family therapists and administrative staff who are all committed to developing innovative and effective ways of working.  The Trust has an active Quality Improvement programme in which all staff are encouraged to participate.  This is a busy, interesting, and varied job.

The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary Neuro Developmental Team providing specialist nursing advice and a non-medical prescribing service.  You will undertake CAMHS assessments and treatment within the NDT (ADHD, learning disability and ASD).  You will have a role in providing training, consultation and support to other staff and teachers working in schools and general practice.  The post holder will lead by example to improve client care in the specialist CAMH service and be a highly visible presence in clinical practice and be accessible to clients and their families.

You will call upon a broad range of skill and experience to work with a wide array of children, young people and their families with mental health issues.  We will provide an interesting and supportive work environment, with good training and supervision.

The community served is multi-ethnic and culturally diverse and we welcome applicants who are skilled in working within the richness and complexity of this multicultural context.  The Child and Adolescent Mental health Service is part of the Specialist Services Directorate in the East London NHS Foundation Trust, rated an Outstanding Trust by the Care Quality Commission.  There are good links with Education, Childrens Social Care and voluntary sector organisations locally.

Interview date is provisionally set at 21st February 2019
